León. Castilla y León, Spain. IGP “Tierra de Castilla y León” (Land of Castile and León)
Prieto Picudo, made from more than 100 years old vines.
Viticulture integrated in the environment.
The grapes from which our wine “Fuentes del Silencio – old vines” is made, are from our best vineyard, of only 1.5ha., and located 850m high, in a sandy soil. The Mediterranean-Continental dry weather, very sunny and with strong contrasts in the temperature among day and night, assures an optimal grape maturation. Our density is around 2.000 vines/hectare, with a production rounding the 2Kgs per vine.
Hand-made harvest, in boxes containing 15Kgs, with an accurate grape selection, in vineyard and in wine cellar as well. Vinification with raspon and aging for one year in French (80%) and American (20%) oak barrels. No filtration or clarification. Aged in bottle for 9 months, at least.
Red wine of ruby color. Complex and intense nose of red and black candied fruit and chocolate. In the mouth, it is dry and with a high acidity; balanced and intense fine tannins; flavor of red currant, raspberry and black cherry, with chocolate, cedar, toasted wood and mineral notes memories. Long and persistent ending.
