Fuentes del Silencio surge de nuestro entusiasmo por elaborar vinos excepcionales a partir de viejas cepas de variedades autóctonas de la provincia de León. Tanto las técnicas de recuperación de viñedo, como la viticultura y los métodos de elaboración de nuestros vinos están orientados a la obtención de vinos singulares y excepcionales. Respetamos al máximo el medio ambiente y por ello no usamos productos químicos, estando nuestro viñedo certificado como viñedo ecológico.

Our team search for the unique expression of every single plot in order to make each of our wines, some of them of very limited production.

Our climate is continental soft, with great thermal amplitude between day and night. Marked by long, cold winters, intense frosts and very hot, dry summers. The protection of the Teleno provides us with one of the highest solar luminosity in Spain and little abundant rainfall.

Our vineyards are most of them hundred-year-old planted in small plots. There are located 800 meters above sea level on both sides of the river Jamuz. They grow on poor soils with very low fertility. The soil is mostly acidic with a loamy-sandy texture and with abundant stone and siliceous matter.

The Project

Viticulture

Centenary vines

Our project consists in recovering old vines of almost one century. The main varieties that are present in our vineyards are Mencía, Alicante Bouschet and Palomino. There is some other minor varieties such as Godello, Gran Negro or Doña Blanca among others.

Ecological vineyard

The Jamuz Valley is located in the south of the province of Leon, an area of high ecological value. We therefore respect the environment and practice ecological viticulture in a privileged natural environment in order to maintain the unique ecosystem that characterizes the area.

Terroir

The recovery of the vineyards in an economically depressed area has allowed us to create jobs and promote activities such as enotourism that allow us to make our beautiful valley known. We want to produce fresh and elegant quality wines where the terroir and the grape are the protagonists.
